On her book blog, Cheryl M-M (a top 500 Amazon reviewer) has just reviewed Convergence, the third part of the Dandelion Trilogy by Mike French. She starts by saying: “Speculative fiction is often like brain gym. The author will often ask the reader to go above and beyond what they deem possible, credible, doable.” She suggests that having read the first two parts of the trilogy would have helped, but still seems to have managed to understand what’s going on and to have been drawn in to Mike’s slightly off-kilter near-future.

After discussion of various of the characters she suggests that you “might have to sit back with a packet of chocolate digestives and a pot of tea with this one.” Which sounds like a good idea to me 😉 Having also suggested that it may tax your brain, she concludes by pointing out that that’s “the whole point of speculative fiction, to venture into places quite extraordinary.” Mike’s imagined world-to-come is certainly extraordinary.
