Stefan Jackson will be at Wintercon, the NY Comic & Sci-Fi Expo, on Saturday 6th December to launch his debut novel Glass Shore, a science fiction adventure set in Manhattan in 2076. Look for Stefan in the Artist Alley.
Katrina Mountfort will be launching her debut novel Future Perfect on the evening of December 11th in Saffron Walden at Intelligent Penguin in Gold Street.
Future Perfect is the first book in the Blueprint Trilogy which takes us to a future in which men and women are almost identical, and personal relationships are forbidden. Following a bio-terrorist attack, the population now lives within comfortable Citidomes. MindValues advocate acceptance and non-attachment. The BodyPerfect cult encourages a tall thin androgynous appearance, and looks are everything. A dark undercurrent runs through the trilogy: the enforcement of conformity through fear, the fostering of distorted and damaging attitudes towards forbidden love, manipulation of appearance and even the definition of beauty. It’s also worth saying a big thank you to Intelligent Penguin, a digital agency, who offered the use of their venue in exchange for a donation to a charity of Katrina’s choice. In keeping with the themes of the book, Katrina chose Beat, a charity providing helplines, online support and a network of UK-wide self-help groups to help adults and young people in the UK beat their eating disorders.
AutismCon is an exciting new day-long convention organised by and for people with autism, with talks, workshops and performances. It’s an amazing celebration of autism, where special interests are encouraged, communication comes in all forms, and the skills and talents of people with autism are clear for everyone to see. Many people with autism are fans of speculative fiction, so among the many events will be a discussion panel about science fiction and fantasy. One of our authors, Peter R. Ellis, will be on the panel. If you’re going to the convention look out for Peter.
On March 2nd*, Tanya Reimer will be at the Library in Manor Saskatchewan for the For the Love of Reading! event. From 1.30-4pm there will be programme events for children (reading, crafts, games). At 1.30pm you can Meet the Author, in which Tanya will read from her books and sign copies (including Ghosts on the Prairies, A Sacred Land Story) and answer questions until 2.30pm.

Cathy and Michael now have three children. But for Cathy, village life is no longer idyllic. While Michael is famed as the leader of the Alliance of Outside Communities, she is left holding the baby.
