Douglas Thompson, author of Entanglement, will be launching and reading from his latest work, including Entanglement, and “will talk about the background to why and how I wrote them and the state of the genre scene in general”. He will be introduced by independent press editor and ‘Slipstream guru’ Allen Ashley, in the form of a talk on what exactly Slipstream fiction is and why its special blend of fantastical and realistic elements makes it the perfect contemporary fiction for the 21st century.
This free entry event is being held on 20 December 2012 at 7pm, under the auspices of the Scottish Writers’ Centre at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow.
Jacey’s Kingdom by Dave Weaver will be published on 11 January 2013 in an eBook edition. It will be available in ePub, Kindle, Kobo and iBook formats.
Dave Weaver will be launching the print edition of his fantasy novel Jacey’s Kingdom at 5pm on Sunday 31 March 2013 at Eastercon in Bradford. Details in the Eastercon programme.

Dave Weaver will be signing copies of his novel Jacey’s Kingdom from 10am on Saturday 29 June 2013 at the Waterstones in St. Albans. There’s a Roman-themed kid’s funday and a conjurer too, so absolutely no excuse not to go along!
Dave Weaver’s second novel to be published by Elsewhen Press, Japanese Daisy Chain, will be published in a digital edition on the 7th February 2014. In a journey around contemporary Japan, through a series of apparently unrelated incidents, we are given an exclusive insight into the consequence of contact with the paranormal. On each occasion, a minor character becomes the main protagonist in the next, creating a human daisy-chain. Just like a daisy-chain, what goes around comes around…
Dave Weaver’s second novel to be published by Elsewhen Press, Japanese Daisy Chain, will be published in a paperback edition on the 12th May 2014.
Dave Weaver will be at the Waterstones in St Albans on the evening of 22nd May to read from, and sign copies of, his novel Japanese Daisy Chain which was launched in paperback on the 12th May. The evening will start at 7:30pm, and includes refreshments!

In fact, Saturday lunchtime (16th August) in the Book Launch section of the Library in the Fan Village at 13:30. So if you’re going to be at Loncon 3 (the 72nd World Science Fiction Convention, in case you don’t already know!) come and join us for a drink, to hear Douglas do a bit of a reading, buy a copy and get him to sign it.
We will be at Novacon again this year, which will be held Friday 14th to Sunday 16th November, once again at the Park Inn Hotel in Nottingham. We will also be launching Necropolis by Christopher Nuttall on Sunday morning at 11am in the downstairs bar.
Various of our authors and artists will be in attendance too:
We will be at this year’s Eastercon – Dysprosium 2015 at the Park Inn in Heathrow.
We have a whole room to ourselves, syndicate room 13 (luckily we’re not superstitious).
On Saturday 4th from 11:15 to 12:15 we’ll be running a Writers’ Workshop in the Armstrong room. If you’re coming to Dysprosium and are interested in reserving a place, let us know ASAP as space is limited. Details below:
Writers’ Workshop – Editing your masterpiece
Saturday 4th April 11:15-12:15
Elsewhen Press (Armstrong room)
This is a one-hour workshop intended for new unpublished writers. You’ve written your masterpiece, but no-one seems to be interested in reading it, let alone publishing it. Many submitted manuscripts are rejected out of hand because the author has clearly not performed even basic editing, proofreading or sanity-checking of their text. This workshop will identify the pitfalls of typical tools as well as common mistakes, and suggest helpful techniques to overcome them.
Mike French, founding editor of The View from Here literary magazine and author of the Dandelion Trilogy, also runs workshops for aspiring writers. As one of the authors published by Elsewhen Press, he has agreed to lead this workshop to help you to make sure that your work is ready for submitting to an agent or publisher. Elsewhen Press authors Christopher Nuttall (Bookworm series, Royal Sorceress series, Inverse Shadows series…), Peter R. Ellis (Seventh Child, The Power of Seven) and Dave Weaver (Jacey’s Kingdom, Japanese Daisy Chain, The Black Hole Bar) will also be on hand to offer advice and help, and an Elsewhen Press editor will also offer an insight into the publisher’s perspective. The workshop will be limited to twelve (12) attendees, pre-booking is essential and places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
Attendees should bring with them a Speculative Fiction short story they have already completed or one that is close to completion, of between 2000 and 5000 words. During the workshop there will be the opportunity to edit your story with help and advice from Mike, Chris, Peter or Dave. You can either edit your piece in the workshop on your own laptop, or bring a printed copy and scribble on that! All attendees will be given the opportunity to subsequently submit a short story (by the end of May 2015) for critique and consideration for possible inclusion in a future anthology from Elsewhen Press.
If you wish to attend, please email pete@elsewhen.co.uk with your name (and badge name if that is different) before Tuesday 31st March.
Our very own Douglas Thompson will be leading an ‘In Process Masterclass’ for the Scottish Writers’ Centre in Glasgow, on Tuesday 27th October 2015 at 7pm. Douglas is one of Glasgow’s most original exponents of dark surreal fiction. Described as “a name to watch” by Interzone magazine Douglas has published eight books of which Elsewhen Press have published two: Entanglement and The Rhymer, an Heredyssey. He will also be launching his ninth book, The Sleep Corporation (Exaggerated Press) at the masterclass.
The evening is billed as a diverse and unorthodox exploration of the art of writing from the perspective of someone implacably opposed to the sameness and complacency of major commercial publishers. Sounds like fun!
Existence is Elsewhen, our fantastic new anthology is available from 18th March 2016 as an eBook. It will be published in print on 25th March 2016, and launched at Mancunicon.
The title, Existence is Elsewhen, paraphrases the last sentence of André Breton’s 1924 Manifesto of Surrealism, perfectly summing up the intent behind this anthology of stories from a wonderful collection of authors. Different worlds… different times. It’s what Elsewhen Press has been about since we launched our first title in 2011.
In Existence is Elsewhen we present twenty science fiction stories for you to enjoy, one from each of the following twenty great authors:

Ellis’ Unity of Seven on Sunday afternoon. Come and join us for a drink at the launch parties, and say hello if you see us around and about (we’ll be wearing our Elsewhen Press t-shirts!)
